Clicking on the Configure sub-menu icon while in the Devices tab, when logged in as Account Administrator, brings you to the site configuration page. From this page you may change the device location that will appear on map pages if that device does not have GPS capability. If the device is a GPS device, the map position will be taken from the most recently reported position data.
You may also change the device time zone, used to modify displayed timestamps from the device. You may change the site name that appears on other pages that refer to this device.

You can completely reconfigure a device by uploading a new XML configuration file here. If you only want to update the portal but not the device, simply upload the file. Check the box to "queue request to upload to device" to also reconfigure the device the next time it calls in. Check the "clear/reset all" box to completely replace existing configuration information. If this is not checked, the portal will attempt to update the existing configuration based on the new file. It should be noted that if the "modified" configuration is too substantially different from the existing configuration, this may lead to confusion both in the device and in the web portal.
The disadvantage in completely replacing an old configuration is that all old logged data is also lost. If you are making minor changes such as alarm thresholds, report priorities, and the like, you should modify rather than replace configuration. If you have completely rearranged the definition of which data points do what, then you should replace.
The Report Timeout is the maximum period of time that the remote device should go between routine periodic call-ins. Alarms and alert notifications will be called in immediately regardless of this setting. This is the setting that will cause the device to call in even if it has absolutely nothing new to report, and it will do this just to let you know it is still alive and well.
The Unit Timeout is essentially an alarm setting. If this amount of time goes by without hearing from the device, you will be notified and the device will be listed as "unresponsive". This tells you that for some reason, the device has stopped reporting, and could have malfunctioned. It is also possible that cellular coverage has simply failed or fallen below quality level that permits calling.
The Acknowledge Repeat setting, if non-zero, is the period of time that will elapse between repeated alert notifications when the unit is unresponsive.

The notification settings here can be used for a global notification setting. Select one or more groups and click the Assign Event Notifications button at the bottom to cause this group to be notified for all currently defined notifications for this device.

Device settings options will vary according to the service type selected. A set of options that appears for generator service is the remote start and run time register setting. Select the input objects (registers, I/O points) that will be used to start the generator, and to monitor generator run time. If a PM (Preventive Maintenance) period is given and notification group selected, that group will receive a notification when that amount of runtime has elapsed. The runtime is reset under the Service Device sub-menu.

Devices equipped to be a Modbus master, and which support remote configuration of its Modbus master, will have Modbus port settings indicated here. Select the applicable port settings for your Modbus device(s). Timeout is the amount of time that the monitoring device will wait for the slave to respond. Most Modbus devices will respond in well under 0.5 seconds if functioning properly.
When the remote monitoring device functions as a Modbus slave, enter the monitoring device's slave address here and check Device is Modbus Slave. Check Queue to Send to send these settings to the device (only stored in web portal database otherwise). Always use a Pre-Delay of at least 50 mSec to be sure the monitoring device does not respond too fast for the Modbus device being monitored.

Select notification groups to be notified when the device is slated as "unresponsive" by the web portal, based on the timeouts set above.
Enter any arbitrary site information and notes you wish. These will be displayed both here and on the site overview (diagnostics) page.
